U shapeKitchen
The U-shaped kitchen plan is the most efficient layout for a big kitchen and is the ideal illustration of the ‘working triangle.’ The owner can simply switch between sinks, ovens/cooktops, and refrigerators with this design, because of its tight working triangle. Its main advantage is that it allows two or more cooks to work at the same time. It is ideal for large Nepali families who live together.
Although U- shaped designs best compliments big kitchens, it is also a highly adaptable plan for small kitchens as it provides a continuous worktop and adequate storage throughout the area. This kitchen design and layout consists of a three-walled “U” shaped design (also known as a “C-shaped” kitchen) with cabinets and worktops running around three sides and an open end for access. Thanks to its ideal work triangle arrangement, uninterrupted efficiency and safety when the user is preparing meals is ensured.
A u-shaped kitchen makes the most of the available wall space by placing cupboards and appliances against the walls. If the house’s layout prevents a U-shaped kitchen from being built, an island can be constructed to fulfill the same purpose. U-shaped kitchens may be used in a variety of kitchen designs.
Its adaptability enables for a configuration that works for a wide range of areas of varied forms and sizes. The one exception is that, if not constructed with purpose in mind, smaller kitchens may seem claustrophobic or lack shelf space.
Bigger U-Shaped kitchens normally have 6 feet or more between the facing walls, allowing for the addition of an auxiliary island/ peninsula in the middle to provide more countertop space and storage (dependent upon the size and width of the U shaped kitchen).
Pros
- Wall cabinets and built-in appliances increase space by placing appliances within easy reach of each other.
- Design flexibility and efficiency
- Large workbench space allows for many chefs in the kitchen, as well as the ability to incorporate sitting and dining into the design.
Cons
- Workstations may be too far apart if the floor area is too broad.
- A very small floor area might seem confining at times.
- The corner cabinets need to be planned with purpose in mind.
